About GADIDO

"Thank you to everyone who purchases pearls here. I was born into a family of fishermen in a small fishing village in Yamauma County, Japan. When I was 7 years old, my father left home. My mother raised me on her own. She worked at the docks cultivating and harvesting pearls. I discovered that wholesalers were buying pearls from us at very low prices and then selling them to consumers at extremely high prices. That's why I founded this website, selling directly to consumers and cutting out middlemen. I hope that through my efforts, people who love pearls can buy pearl necklaces worth thousands of dollars at discounts of over 80% off market prices. This will enable workers at Japanese pearl farms to earn more income. Despite our low prices, we maintain the highest quality control standards for all pearl orders."

Where do they come from?

Akoya pearls are currently farmed in Japan, China and to a lesser extent, Vietnam, Thailand and Australia. The vast majority of the world's akoya pearls are produced in Japan, which is the undisputed akoya pearl producing center of the world. China was once a genuine contender, but mother nature all but destroyed the Chinese akoya industry in 2007.
